2 Easy Ways to Improve Your Shoreline View
Your lake, river, or body of water should be part of a picturesque landscape, not an eyesore.
You want it to look lovely. That’s one of the big reasons you wanted waterfront property to begin with!
Two main things you can do to enhance your view of the water:
Enhancement 1: Cut the tall weeds and grasses along your shoreline. You can do this one of two ways: either by continually cutting back the growth once a month or so, or by having those areas replanted with a variety of low-grow fescue and/or other low-growing grasses and flowers. Native plants are often best.
Enhancement 2: Trim your trees, and trim heavily. Typically, this is the name of the game, but it’s a technique that’s commonly overlooked by owners of lake homes – both those who are selling and those who have no intention of ever selling.
Many property owner are afraid to trim massive branches, or they’re afraid get aggressive with their tree trimming. Our customers are often blown away when we suggest (and then facilitate) a major tree trimming.
Our customers stand there in awe, staring out over the lake as they wonder why they didn’t think of this, and why they didn’t do it sooner. People simply can’t believe how much this can really enhance their water view. Tree trimming also allows more light into the yard, opening up those dense, shady areas where no grass will grow. A year later, those spots will be lush with fresh green growth and goodness.
By the way, don’t think you have to do this all by yourself. Hiring someone who “has an eye” for aggressive tree trimming and who can achieve great results with it is very helpful.
