Lake Cabin Shoreline Restoration
Losing your shoreline to erosion? We can help
Your Home Away From Home
Your lakefront property is your slice of the American Dream. It’s far removed from the hustle and noise of the Twin Cities. That’s one reason it’s your sanctuary.
But erosion is eating away at your shoreline, a foot and a season at a time.
Your local landscaper can’t build you a shoreline that will last.
That’s where we (the Lakeshore Guys®) come in. Whether you’re after a total shoreline makeover, repairing shoreline damage from ice, water, or winds, or you’re just looking for some sturdy-but-elegant riprap…we can help.
We’re based in the Twin Cities, but we serve the entire state of Minnesota, as well as Wisconsin and North Dakota. Despite how lake-rich these places are, they lack qualified contractors who specialize in shoreline restoration. That’s why we’re used to traveling throughout the Midwest. Lakeshore property owners from the Brainerd, Pelican Lake, and Whitefish Chain of Lakes area, to the Detroit Lakes area, to right here in the greater Twin Cities, trust Lakeshore Guys® to end erosion with the last riprap shoreline they’ll ever need.
Shoreline restoration involves many of the tools landscapers already have, and it involves working with dirt, fabric, and rock. That’s why homeowners and cabin owners often simply assume that their local landscaping company can restore a shoreline.
The #1 Mistake Homeowners Make
Want to know the #1 mistake that too many homeowners make when having their shoreline restored? They use a general landscaper. That’s like asking a house painter to paint a portrait of your family. (“Hey, paint’s paint, land is land – what’s the difference?”)
We may not be the closest company to your lake, but we’re the best shoreline-restoration artists in the Land of 10,000 Lakes.
We can and will travel to you. The perfect lakefront is a truck ride away.
Next step: get a quote
The next step is for us to learn more about your goals, and to give you a quote. Because there is a bit of a drive involved, and because we’re sticklers for detail, we’ll need a few things from you.
You’ll need to:
It’s also helpful to send a few photos of the imaginary pathway from the streetside to your shoreline. In most cases we’ll be hauling in large trucks of riprap, and dumping them either streetside, or on your driveway. From there we’ll be transporting all the material back to your shoreline. We’ll want a nice middle ground between the shortest, straightest, and flattest routes. By the way, we use rubber tracks on all of our equipment to minimize (and in some cases, eliminate) any damage done to your existing turf.
Room & board, along with certain travel expenses are calculated and charged separately, after we’ve completed your shoreline. We try to keep this cost to an absolute minimum (we only uncork the Dom Perignon after we complete your project – and on our dime!). We don’t expect anything more than a roof over our head, a clean shower, and edible food in our bellies. On most jobs, this total out-of-pocket charge to you is less than a thousand dollars. If you can give us an idea of the closest, cheapest place to stay, that will be helpful in estimating our travel expenses.
Once you’ve sent us your info, here’s what you can expect from us:
Based upon the above info (photos, job description, etc.), we’ll provide you with a very close estimate of cost. Because we won’t actually be on-site yet, there’s always the chance that something unforeseen can happen, or be discovered, once we break ground. But we do our absolute best to make sure our off-site quotes are surprise-free. The great thing about shoreline work is that there are rarely problems that cause a price increase. Sure, Mother Nature likes to challenge us, but not very often do we increase the price as result. Should we need to charge more for any reason, we’ll discuss it with you before taking any action.
Please note: We do charge for onsite consults, and the fee depends on your location. We need this small fee at the same time you send in your photos and job description – prior to studying over your situation and giving you a quote. We charge this nominal amount only so that we spend our time putting together an estimate for serious lakefront property owners, like you. But you’ll be happy to know we do refund the consult fee if / when you decide to move forward with any substantial part of your project.
Because we’re so accustomed to performing work while our clients aren’t at their lakefront haven, we’ve become pretty good at making you feel as close to the action as possible. We’ll send you constant updates and photos of your project throughout the process. (Unless you’d prefer otherwise…not being at your shoreline might drive you crazy!)
Like any artists, we love to show off our work. But we’re pretty sure Michelangelo never did it with an aerial drone. That’s right: We have a small flying drone that lets us send you high-resolution aerial photos of your project throughout all its phases. You might even feel like buying a personal helicopter just so you can admire your shorelinefrom the air.
