Custom Boardwalk Construction in MN & WI
This is your land, and you’re not just passing through. Also, as tranquil as it is, you’re in the vicinity of civilization, which means construction is an option. So why does your property still feel like The Oregon Trail game?
It’s probably because you don’t yet have a good way to cross the bodies of water that dominate or cut across your property, in which case you need a boardwalk.
If you have a stream or creek on your property – or multiple streams – you need a way to get to the other side. If you want an option other than walking the long way, wearing chest waders, and using a half-rotten log as a bridge, then you need a short boardwalk or a series of them.
If your property includes a wetland or marsh and you don’t have one of those airboats that looks fun but absurdly dangerous, then you need a long boardwalk.
Ever the amphibious problem-solvers, Lakeshore Guys can build you a boardwalk. We work most often in Minnesota and Wisconsin, but are willing to travel.
Unlike in the old song, under the boardwalk is not down by the sea. It’s tricky Midwestern terrain. You may be a private citizen with a serious chunk of land, or you run a campground, or you’re a farmer, or you’re a municipal decision-maker. Whatever your situation, the goal is the same: to create a safe, pleasant, attractive, and environmentally responsible way to traverse your stream(s) or wetland or both.
A Lakeshore Guys boardwalk is safe. The legs of the boardwalk are pressure-treated 4x4s that rest on thick convex aluminum footers made (in Wisconsin!) specifically for boardwalks. Each aluminum footer and post base is one piece of metal, so we don’t need to wrestle a Simpson tie between the 4×4 and the footer and worry about what that little gap will do. The stringers and headers are also pressure-treated lumber.
A Lakeshore Guys boardwalk is pleasant to be on and easy on the eyes. We can use composite material for the decking or fascia boards or both. We can add handrails or benches. If you’d like, we can use pre-stained pressure-treated lumber, so it looks extra nice and not too green. Because the structure is so solidly built, you won’t have many or any creaks or bumpy patches underfoot. By the way, you don’t have to walk: You can also drive a 4-wheeler, UTV, or dirtbike on a Lakeshore Guys-built boardwalk.
A Lakeshore Guys boardwalk is environmentally responsible. We pull the necessary permits. We don’t stick pressure-treated lumber IN the water, or where it will produce excessive runoff. Because we build it solidly, you won’t have to rip it up and pay for a series of trucks to cart it off to the landfill. We’re creating a new part of your landscape and a new habitat, which will be confirmed when you see the first of many friendly critters hanging out on your boardwalk.
