Autumn Job Opening: Shoreline Restoration Near Forest Lake MN

Fall 2025 Shoreline Restoration Jobs Near Forest Lake MN: We’re Hiring for Full-Time & Seasonal Work This Fall

Either you’ve got a summer job that ends (or already ended) this fall, or you’re looking for a career upgrade.  In either case, it’s time to turn over a new leaf.  If you’re interested in an outdoor job this autumn, consider joining our shoreline restoration crew for a few months.

We build erosion-resistant and beautiful shorelines for customers – and the occasional staircase and boat ramp – and consistently have all the work we can handle.  Our customers are cool, nice, and happy, and appreciate a solid work ethic and its results.  Our jobsite is a place where you can both build something that lasts and take pride in your handiwork right away.

Why is the fall a great time to join our crew?

  • It doesn’t cut into any of your summer plans.
  • You’re bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, or at least you wrapped up the summer work you don’t really like.
  • We’ve got plenty of shoreline jobs.
  • The weather’s nice and mild.  Nothing beats “light jacket weather!”
  • We’ve got an even-tighter crew, with a higher % of old-timers and other guys who work here year-round.
  • If you end up wanting to work with us year-round, there’s a chance you may be offered a full-time position.  You’ll already have a good idea of what it’s like to be a Lakeshore Guy.

Apply for a spot on our shoreline restoration crew now or read on to find out more.

Lakeshore Guys team standing on shoreline

What work will you do, exactly?

We build erosion-resistant and beautiful shorelines and riverbanks for customers, typically out of riprap.  We also build staircases, boat ramps, switchbacks, patios, and just about anything else the owner of a shoreline or riverbank property might want.  Occasionally, we’ll also plant flora, so as to create a “natural” shoreline.  The common thread is we’re always working by the water, and we’re always outdoors.

We work not only here in Minnesota, but also in neighboring states.  Though most of our jobs are still close to the Twin Cities, we also do a lot of “away” games.

We work with materials like stone, fabric, loam, sand, crushed rock, mulch, edging, patios, sod, seed, and of course the water itself.

Shoreline work is also similar to landscaping work in the sense that you get to work with your hands, work outdoors, work with friendly and easygoing guys, get a daily workout, and learn a skill.  At the same time, it’s not like the typical landscape job, in that we don’t hire any old bag of bones.

We’re obsessed with craftsmanship that everyone will be proud of.  We never rush through a job – and always take our time in an effort to achieve true perfection.

Here’s one photo (of many) and a video that will show you the kind of transformation you can help pull off for our customers.

Job requirements for working on our shoreline restoration crew

We don’t want to waste each other’s time, so please know that we absolutely cannot hire you unless you meet a few basic criteria:

1. You must be able to pass a drug test and not have other substance-related demons.

2. Your background check must not cause us any great concern.

3. Your driving record must not cause us any great concern.

Why are we hiring this fall?

We always have enough guys to create the finest shorelines this side of Cancún, but we have the most guys on our crew during the summer (because this is a great place to have a summer job, too).  That means, for one thing, that around September there’s always a drop in the head count.  But we’ve still got a full dance card.  So if you can only work with us during the fall, that’s just fine with us.  We’ll be around (and still busy) next fall, and the fall after that, and the fall after that.

We offer unlimited overtime (we don’t cut you off after 40 hours a week), so you can squeeze a lot out of however many months you’re with us in a season.  No landscaping experience required.

By the way, if you want to work hard with a great crew and make decent money year-round, we’ll always have work for you if you want it.  No landscaping experience is needed, though that’s always a bonus.  If you’re with us full-time you will always have the opportunity to assume more responsibility and move up the totem pole. Especially if you work for a construction company, excavation company, or you’re an ace equipment operator and feel underpaid, underappreciated, or as though there’s nowhere to advance to, then this is probably the perfect job for you.

In addition to the 3 points we mentioned a few minutes ago, we’d also like you to be:

  • Not offended easily or constantly. Even when you are, you’re pretty good at letting it roll off your back.
  • Outgoing: not shy.
  • Wired to see the humor in things.
  • A happy warrior.  Not a grumbler.
  • Full of pride in your handiwork, whatever you’re working on.
  • First to arrive and last to leave, or at least always competing with others for that distinction. That’s a great rule to live by even when you’re old and creaky, but when you’re new here and you’re bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, your energy needs to be obvious to anyone who catches a glimpse of your sweat patches.
  • Bonus: if you happen to be an outdoorsman (e.g., a hunter, a fisherman, snowmobiler, etc.) you’ll feel right at home.
  • Bonus: if you’re great with a skid steer or mini-excavator, we’d love to have you.

How to apply (and how not to) for this great autumnal job

If you want a rude reply (or no reply) from me, ask how much we pay, send me a two-liner, send us just your resume, or send an email that makes us wonder whether you soaked up everything we plainly stated a minute ago.  Good judgment in how you ask for a job is a sign you’ll show good judgment on the job.  Likewise, for basic reading skills.
