Do You (Lakeshore Guys®) Offer a Warranty?
No, and we’re proud of it.
It’s possible even more lakefront property owners would hire us if we greased them up with a warranty. Warranties can look pretty good on paper, we’ll admit.
But there are several important reasons we don’t offer a warranty on our shoreline work, and our customers haven’t missed it one bit:
Reason 1: The top-of-the-line materials we use and how we install them.
Reason 2: Honesty. We’re dealing with Mother Nature, who will do what she wants to do. The ice sheet might expand 20 feet next winter. That would destroy any shoreline, no matter who put it in. Anyone who thinks they can guarantee a riprapped shoreline is lying to you, or is very new to the craft. To fix a problem like that one, they’d have to redo the whole shoreline. That’s a week or two of work, and they won’t do it for free. Contractors love warranties as a way to get their feet in the door. They don’t love them so much when they have to make good on the promise.
Reason 3: We don’t get paid until your job is done. That’s unheard of in our industry (and in most industries). You can see the quality with your own eyes, rather than just assume it will hold up during the warranty period and then assume the contractor will honor the warranty.
We ask only for a $200 reservation deposit – just enough to know you’re serious – rather than the typical 50% down payment (ouch). Aside from that, we won’t ask you for a dime until we’ve completed your project and you agree we’ve exceeded your expectations.
Reason 4: If you don’t think the shoreline we built for you is proper, we’ll fix it – and you don’t pay until we’ve corrected it. It’s that simple. We’ve not had a single customer pay and not be thrilled with the finished product – and we’ve been doing this for 20 years. We’d like to continue The Streak.
Reason 5: We’ll show you how to build a proper shoreline yourself, if you want to do it yourself. If you don’t think we know what we’re doing, please read the info on our website. We wrote every word of it. We didn’t steal it (though others might steal it from us). As we mentioned a minute ago, we’ve been at it for 20 years, and we hope it shows in the info we give away for free.
